Thera Mala's Story

In the wake of the Second Magical War the order of the Operatives was accepted as a necessary evil. Thera Mala is the only daughter of the most fierce Operative in the world of Azure. She is a highly trained young operative contracted for her first important mission: to kill the Regent’s wife. Soon however, her mission objective is changed to befriending and influencing her initial target.

She is stuck pretending to be a noblewoman in the Regent’s Palace, and she has to keep her cover under the scrutiny of sly courtiers. This becomes almost impossible when people from the desert city-state where she was born visit the Palace. 

​

When the Regent decides to visit the place of his birth with his wife and the underage King, Thera is drafted as part of the official retinue for their visit to the Islands of the Eternal Mists. During a life or death crisis, she ends up protecting the child-King and thus becoming dangerously visible.

This mission which had the potential to launch her reputation, threatens to bring her death or plunge her into obscurity, which is a worse fate than death for someone of such distinguished operative ancestry. 

​

Just when she thought things couldn't get more complicated, her life is directly threatened by the person she least imagined capable of this. In the blink of an eye, from a nondescript  lady in waiting she becomes the most wanted fugitive in the Kingdom, and she uncovers a plot that would change the destiny of the entire continent.
